A Country of Chaos
Death is an essential step in everybody’s life, and people should see this with serenity and peace. However, when a family member has been killed, it changes your life. Every country has experienced violence in different ways. However, Mexico has been suffering from a wave of extreme conditions of delinquency and violence. Mexico has been changing a lot, but in the last five years, the changes have been more serious. Consumption of drugs has increased, and that has influenced a chain of many bad events. Because of the out-of-control violence caused by drug gangs, many families in Mexico, including my own family, have been affected in different ways.
Over the past five years innocent people are being killed more often. Criminals are trying to get money in different ways including kidnapping, assaulting, and stealing. One day two years ago, when I arrived home, I saw all my family crying, and my dad was talking on the phone. I had a bad feeling; one of my uncles had been kidnapped. The criminals were asking for a big ransom that was impossible to get in only three days. The next day a miracle happened. My uncle escaped from the house in which he was captured. Then he and his family came to the U.S. to start a new life. However, they did not feel comfortable here, so they decided to go back. A few months passed and everything was fine, but tragically one day he was assassinated. These kinds of things are happening more often over all the country. Innocent people are being murdered, and even if nothing like this happened to your family, its affects everyone to see what is happening around them.
In addition to kidnapping, criminals are spreading panic all over the country, and they are using various tactics. Criminal groups are killing innocent people and doing horrendous things with their corpses. They leave them in public places or even primary schools, and kids are getting traumatized. They also decapitate the victims and cut the body parts. People are getting scared to go out because of the fear of being kidnapped or killed. This is affecting not only the families of the victims, but also the entire country. It is more common for wealthy people to be kidnapped or killed. For that reason if the people have the opportunity to immigrate, they do not think about it twice. People from different states are trying to live in a safer place, so they move. Security in Mexico is a serious issue, and that has affected my family and me. That was one of the reasons that influenced me to leave the country this past year.
Furthermore, wars between gangs are becoming more common. Drug dealers are fighting to get more territory. It is common for the criminal bands to confront each other in the middle of the day in public areas. This has caused many deaths of innocent people and that is another reason why people fear going out. When I was in high school, it was normal that every day one of these events happened. Even though that it is an extreme situation, people adapt to it. Imagine experiencing the same thing everyday, and seeing how two gangs confront each other in front of you. One day my dad was watering the flowers in our garden when suddenly a confrontation near my house started. He even saw how a bullet went through a wall of our house. Sadly as much as the government tries to stop this, there are no favorable results.
Mexico is going through many extreme situations of violence and delinquency, and the violence is increasing rapidly. Many innocent people are dying, and criminal groups are being confronted more often. The government is trying to defeat all these groups, but unfortunately criminals are getting more powerful every day. The situation in Mexico is getting worse and worse. When I was little, I thought that Mexico was a safe place to live. However, now everything is different; the way that the violence has transformed Mexico is unbelievable. All the experiences that I had there have motivated me to come to this country. I hope that one day my native country could improve dealing with these issues, and the violence decreases making it a safe place to live, once again.
